Identity

A big part of who I am starts with how I grew up. My dad was an Austrian ambassador, so we moved countries pretty regularly.

I even made an interactive map if you want to explore the timeline here

The short version is that I have lived across the US and Europe, with some especially eye-opening time in Kenya.

People often ask whether that much change was hard, especially growing up. To me it mostly felt exciting. Every move felt like a new adventure, even if it also meant leaving friends behind.

Ever since I finished military service in Austria, I have slowly been making more of my own decisions. The funny part is that the pattern still feels familiar.

I used to change countries. Now I change subjects, jobs, and areas of interest. It went from neuroscience, to innovation and technology management, to fintech, and now startups. I think growing up in motion probably trained my brain to be comfortable switching lanes.

At least I have managed to stay in one country for a while now. 🇬🇧
